Antique Victorian Mahogany Games Table with Inlaid Chess Board c.1890
A handsome late Victorian games table, featuring a finely inlaid checkerboard chess table top of alternating sycamore and walnut veneers within a mahogany surround, raised on a turned mahogany pedestal and tripod base with shaped and carved feet.
The lower mahogany surfaces have taken on a beautiful natural crazing, providing a particularly striking aesthetic. Compact, functional and great looking, perfect for a drawing room, library or study, offering both practical use for games or use as a wine table with a strong decorative presence.
Presented in very good antique condition with surface wear consistent with age and use, the wood having developed a warm characterful patina. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1890.
