Antique Victorian Coopered Oak Country House Stick Stand c.1850
An early Victorian oak stick stand of tapered, coopered construction, bound by five heavy-gauge iron hoops secured with riveted joints.
A robust vessel purpose-made for the Victorian hallway to store walking sticks and riding crops without tipping. The warm, honest texture of the unpainted oak makes it a handsome addition to a stone-flagged boot room, entrance hall or country house cloakroom.
Very good antique condition, the oak retains an excellent waxed surface showing characterful wear, natural patination consistent with age and evidence of long-dormant historic woodworm. Structurally sound and ready to place.
English, circa 1850.
