Early 20th Century Singer Cast Iron & Elm Machinist’s Chair c.1930
An early 20th-century industrial Singer machinist’s chair, featuring a solid, finely contoured elm seat and an adjustable backrest, raised on its original heavy cast iron four-footed pedestal base stamped SINGER to each side.
Engineered for heavy factory use by the Singer Sewing Machine Company, the seat swivels and adjusts smoothly for height, locking firmly via the original iron wing nut.
An icon of British industrial design, its compact footprint and height-adjustable mechanism make it functional today as a striking home office desk chair, drafting stool or unique kitchen accent piece.
Very good original condition with an attractive natural patina to the cast iron consistent with age and use. Mechanically sound, structurally solid, clean and ready to place.
English, circa 1930.
