Pair of Antique Victorian Walnut Open Armchairs c.1890
A late Victorian pair of William and Mary style walnut open armchairs, the high arched backrests and generous seats flanked by contoured arms with crisp acanthus carving and rosette terminals, all raised on turned legs terminating in lobed feet and united by turned stretchers and a handsomely carved, pierced front stretcher.
Later reupholstered in a traditional woven floral fabric, offering a sympathetic complement to the late Stuart silhouette.
Very good antique condition with some surface wear consistent with age. There is a small historic loss to the back of one rear foot. The upholstery remains clean and crisply executed, finished with precise brass studs. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place.
English, circa 1890.
