A heavily restored Victorian Arts & Crafts mahogany swivel desk chair / Captains chair. This is a fabulously designed chair with pierced fretwork back, contoured single piece back and armrest with shaped seat panel, all raised on wonderfully shaped legs.
This is more of a decorative piece in many respects, although it could be used. The extensive repairs are very much part of this chair's charm, most are unhidden and blatant with numerous visible brace repairs. The chair features a later swivel mechanism to the underside.
Someone really loved this chair enough to restore it to this extent, and it is quite clear why. The aged repairs and restorations are all carried out to a high standard. A marvellous chair and genuine piece of intrigue.
