Antique Victorian Mahogany Hall Chair c.1890
A decorative mahogany hall chair constructed in the late nineteenth century utilising earlier Regency elements, including sabre front legs, turned rear supports and a reeded panel back with shaped crest. The mahogany throughout is genuine early nineteenth-century timber, showing rich colour and wear consistent with age.
The mixed leg forms, altered proportions and later joinery confirm Victorian assembly rather than original Regency manufacture. It remains, however, a distinctive and characterful piece of furniture, reflecting the nineteenth-century practice of repurposing quality timber from earlier designs. Compact, stable and decorative, it makes an ideal perch in a hallway or boot room.
Presented in very good antique condition with an attractive aged patina, marks and imperfections consistent with age and honest construction. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1890 (constructed from Regency period components).
