Antique Early Victorian Oak Country House Gallery Side Table c.1840
An Early Victorian oak side table with an elegantly scrolled three-quarter gallery enclosing a small raised shelf to the rear, set over a thumb-moulded tabletop above a single oak-lined frieze drawer, all raised on finely turned legs terminating in original Cope & Collinson brass cup castors.
Conceived as a high-status country house bedroom chamber table or washstand, the compact width now makes it an ideal statement console for a hallway, a unique small dressing table or an occasional writing surface in a sitting room.
Very good antique condition, with some surface wear and water marks consistent with genuine age and domestic use. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place.
English, circa 1840.
