Antique Georgian Mahogany Bureau c.1800
A fine George III mahogany bureau, the richly figured fall front opening to a green baize writing surface and fitted interior of pigeonholes, small drawers, central cupboard and a concealed secret drawer to each side. The bureau is set over four long graduated drawers with oval brass ring handles and diamond-shaped bone escutcheons, all raised on shaped bracket feet.
Dating to around the turn of the 19th century, this is a well-proportioned working bureau of useful domestic scale, functioning beautifully as an antique writing desk with generous storage below.
Very good antique condition with some historic surface wear consistent with age and use. Well restored historically and in good order. The later baize shows some wear and there is a historic filled repair to the right-hand side of the fall front panel. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1800.
