Antique Victorian Elm & Ash Cutler’s Stool c.1850
A good original mid 19th-century cutler’s stool, with a thick well-figured elm slab seat raised on three broadly splayed ribbed ash legs retaining traces of old green paint.
With an exceptional patina and of especially useful height for this type, the stool has all the strong, sculptural character of traditional English workshop furniture, its ribbed ash legs being closely associated with Sheffield cutler’s stools.
Very good antique condition with lots of surface wear, marks and patina consistent with long practical use. Structurally solid, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1850.
