Antique Victorian Gothic Oak Lectern c.1890
A late Victorian oak standing lectern, the canted reading slope fitted with a moulded ledge set over a carved floral frieze above a pair of sculpted angel corbels bearing heraldic shields, all raised on twin architectural uprights united by upper and lower pierced tracery panels and resting on a stepped plinth base.
Carved with tremendous sculptural depth, the piece carries all the drama and presence of an architectural sculpture. A transformative decorative statement, bringing instant character to an interior while occupying a remarkably compact footprint.
Very good antique condition, retaining crisp carved details and a rich patina with minor surface marks consistent with age. Structurally sound, stable and ready to place.
