A fabulous pair of carved oak hall chairs dated 1674. The chairs were sourced from an estate where they have existed for hundreds of years and are extensively carved with floral decorations and two swans either side of the carved date. They also feature the initials A H to the uprights and are raised on fabulous turned front legs united by a bobbin stretcher. The chairs are supplied with later lift off specially made upholstered seat panels.
These chairs are in very good condition, both structurally in very good order with just a minor amount of movement which is expected considering the age. The chairs feature some evidence of past woodworm and a beautiful amount of aged surface wear and patina.
English, dated 1674.
